The Bale-Sized Portable Free Feed Slow Feeder allows your horse to ‘free feed’ in a slow-feed environment (ie: you like the idea of having hay in front of them at all times, but slowing down their intake). The critical requirement for this feeder is having someone around who can lift a small square bale above the fence line and drop it into the hay chute of the feeder. You can also toss flakes into the feeder from ground level (as long as you have good aim!).
This feeder works well with full height (60”) fences and comes with or without a full-bale-sized hay net.
FENCE RAIL CHECK: Please fill out the required fence rail size form during purchase so that we can send the correct size of top hooks. This is an important step! Every day we find out about new styles of fence, and no two are alike. We custom-build the required hooks based on your fence type.
HAY NETS: Please note that if you plan to use your own hay nets, they must be minimum 1” hole-size to fit around the feeder. We do not recommend smaller than 1.5” nets for horses who are new to hay nets. We find that most horses are happy with 1.5”.
