This approach maximizes air flow (reducing build up of gunk in the bottom of the net), it holds more hay than traditional bottom closures, there is no metal near a horse's mouth, and perhaps a little less frustration for horses as they have access to all of the hay in the bottom of the net.
Hay nets are measured in 'mesh'. One mesh is one diagonal of net. One length of mesh determines the size of the net. The above image shows our 1.5" mesh and our 1" mesh knotless hay nets.
